Educational Aim:
The aim of this article was to provide career counsellors with an understanding of clients that are from previously disadvantaged backgrounds. The article also aimed at providing suggestions to policymakers on how to address the issue of unemployment among the graduates from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Educational Outcomes:
Upon completion of this module practitioners should have a clear understanding of:

  1. What is graduate employability and why is it important.
  2. Describe the factors that are causing a lack of employability skills among graduates from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.
  3. Discuss the possible recommendations towards addressing the issue of employability and unemployment.
