The aim of this study is to investigate the community perceptions on the socio-economic costs of dust fallout in a gold mining village situated in the West Witwatersrand basin. The perceptions of the community are assessed to articulate how sudden mine closure can be linked to dust fallout and the effects on society`s well-being.
