Educational Objectives

Educational Aim:
The aim of this activity is to empower the practitioner to incorporate the principles of palliative care into the management of burn patients and their families.

Editor's comments:
Mortality of burns in Africa is about 10%. Resources in Africa to manage burn patients are scarce and patients with massive burns may not be offered curative burn care. There are no guidelines for palliative care in burn patients. These articles aim to address the gaps in offering palliative care to burns patients who may not qualify for curative care..

Educational Outcomes:
Upon completion of this module practitioners should have a clear understanding of:

  1. The importance of palliative care in the context of burn patients in middle- and low-income settings
