Weighted blankets and quality of sleep in children with ASD
The purpose of this single-subject study was to explore the possible relationship between weighted blanket applications and sleep quality in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and behavioural manifestations of sensory processing deficits.

This
article aims to assess weighted blanket application during sleep for young
children with ASD with tactile and auditory behavioural manifestations of SOR
(sensory over responsivity) who experience difficulty with falling and staying
asleep.
Editor's comments:
This
review demonstrates the importance of quality sleep in young children with ASD
and SOR and how weighted blankets can assist in improving sleep outcomes.
However, further studies are needed to examine the efficacy of weighted blanket
interventions to increase sleep quality for the ASD population.
