The aim of this article is to assess the efficacy and safety of MDMA-assisted therapy in individuals with severe PTSD.

PTSD is a debilitating condition with a high morbidity and mortality. In South Africa, PTSD is common because of high levels of crime and interpersonal violence, including gender-based violence. The condition is difficult to treat and novel therapies such as psychedelics show promise in terms of efficacy, safety and cost for management of this condition.
