Educational Objectives

Educational Aim:
The aim of this article was to investigate the link between anxiety and interoception (or the perception of internal bodily states) specifically with respect to breathing.

Editor's comments:
This was a difficult article to get through, but very satisfying once I had worked out questions.

Educational Outcomes:
Upon completion of this module practitioners should have a clear understanding of:

  1. miscommunication between the brain and the body initiates and perpetuates symptoms of anxiety

  2. Brain activity is related to dynamic interoceptive learning
  3. Anterior insula activity related to the certainty of predictions about breathing resistance was found to differ between trait anxiety levels.
