The educational aim of this article is to explore and clarify the roles of community health workers (CHWs) in providing palliative care within a primary healthcare setting in rural South Africa. It seeks to identify the challenges and limitations CHWs face in delivering palliative care and to inform the development of healthcare services that optimize their contribution to palliative care in underserved communities.
