Analysis of challenging mammographic cases demonstrates subtle reader group discrepancies.
High quality image interpretation is essential to detect abnormalities on mammograms. This article focuses on radiography advanced practitioners and radiologists to establish if they are challenged by the same characteristics.
Educational Objectives
Educational Aim:
This study demonstrates the correlation between radiologists and radiography advanced practitioners when determining which mammographic cases are difficult to interpret, regardless of whether the cases are with pathology or normal. This data aids in directing future AI efforts towards those cases that present with the highest difficulty ratings.
Educational Outcomes:
Upon completion of this module practitioners should have a clear understanding of:
- The two types of health care professionals investigated in this study that interpret mammograms.
- The significant correlation between RAP’s and radiologists for case difficulty.
- How this study could help direct future AI efforts towards the cases that present with the highest difficulty ratings.
