The aim of this module is to provide an overview of the conclusions and recommendations of the MPAC following on their 2012 Meeting.


Educational Outcomes:

Upon completion of this module practitioners should have a clear understanding of:

The MPAC's recommendation regarding: i) intermittent preventive treatment of malaria using sulphadoxine-pyrimethamine, ii) primaquin as a single dose gametocide in P Falciparum, iii) a global technical strategy for malaria control, iv) drug resistance, v) malaria burden estimation, vi) malaria vaccine and vii) malaria vector control.
  3. The process for updating WHO Guidelines for Treatment of Malaria.
