The aim of this article is to provide an understanding of the application of modern pain neurosciences within certain pain populations.

Upon completion of this module practitioners should have a clear understanding of:

  2. The relationship between chronic pain and neuroplastic changes in the nervous system.
  3. Types of neuroplastic changes that takes place in the nervous system
  4. Which Populations show specific neuroplastic changes in the peripheral and central nervous system that cause pain
  5. How these changes are reflected in clinical manifestations, e.g. a generalized hypersensitivity of the somatosensory system.
