Educational Objectives

Educational Aim:
Is to assist the anaesthetist in making the most appropriate choice in administering anaesthetic drugs, particularly analgesics in the breastfeeding woman.

Educational Outcomes:
Upon completion of this module practitioners should have a clear understanding of:

1. the recommendations regarding breastfeeding in the peri-operative period.
2. the various drugs available and their safety profile towards the infant. 
3. the supportive care required for the breastfeeding women who require anaesthesia.
