Passive Sampling campaign of gaseous pollutants in rural areas of the Northwest Province of South Africa

The study presented passive sampling results for NO2, SO2 and ozone at 10 monitoring sites in the Northwest Province that was done due to lack of air quality monitoring in these areas.

Educational Objectives

Educational Aim:
The aim of this study is to assess SO2, NO2 and O3 concentrations in the rural areas of the western Northwest province to compare with the national ambient air quality standards and with other measurements elsewhere considering seasonal and spatial patterns to give guidance to possible future ambient measurements.

Educational Outcomes:
Upon completion of this module practitioners should have a clear understanding of:

3. Factors influencing air pollution.
