The aim of this article was to explore job demands and job resources and their effect on the wellbeing of judges in South Africa.

Educational Outcomes:
Upon completion of this module practitioners should have a clear understanding of:

  1. Judges flourish as a result of job resources such as autonomy, positive relationships with senior judges and opportunities for training and development

  2. Judges generally chose to use the available resources for well-being to reach their goals, feel good and to function well at work.
  3. Some judges felt that their heavy workload and limited time contributed to stress and burnout.
