Educational Objectives

Educational Aim:
The aim of this article is to identify variation in both activity levels and protein in the membrane, cytosol and red blood cell-derived extra-cellular vehicles as a function of ex vivo ageing, G6PD- dependent metabolic diversity, and conditions that mimic the bloodstream of the recipient.

Educational Outcomes:
Upon completion of this module practitioners should have a clear understanding of:

  1. Proteasome variations in stored red blood cells
  2. Extracellular proteasomes in the red blood cell units
  3. The effects of storage reversibly or irreversibly on the activity and topology of red blood cell proteasomes.
