Educational Aim:
The aim of this article is to describe health problems and gaps in knowledge related to infectious problems and predominant travel-related syndromes among expatriates living in low-and middle-income countries.

Expatriates constitute a growing population group globally. It is imperative for the travel clinical practitioner to have a good understanding of common infectious organisms the traveller may have encountered in order to correctly diagnose and manage them.

  2. The geographical distribution of infectious organisms commonly encountered in the long-term returning traveller.
