Educational Aim:
This article compared the career priorities of college-educated workers who were laid off or furloughed as a result of the pandemic and subsequently reemployed with the priorities of those whose jobs were stable over the pandemic.

Educational Outcomes:
Upon completion of this module practitioners should have a clear understanding of:

  1. College-educated workers who experienced job loss during the pandemic were not any more likely than those whose employment was stable to emphasize job security and salary in their conceptualizations of good career decision making
  2. No significant differences were noted between job-stable and job-unstable respondents’ assessments of how the importance of job security and salary shifted in their minds over the course of the pandemic.
  3. Those who experienced a job loss or furlough were more likely to report that passion for work had become more important in their minds over the course of the pandemic
